Hello
Welcome to my website! My name is Lisa McCrory. I am a mother, a budding ceramic artist, an organic farmer/consultant, a Reiki and shamanic practitioner, a dowser, ski instructor, and seeker of all things spiritual.
A survivor with many years of sobriety under my belt, part of my personal healing has involved speaking my truth, being compassionate to myself and others, forgiving, and recognizing that there are times when it is appropriate to fuck politeness!
My intention through all my work -- and play -- is to bring forth light, laughter, and personal expression in a way that can be enjoyed and shared.
I hope you like my work. If you do, we are probably from the same tribe...
My Story
I was first introduced to the art of ceramics about ten years ago. I was looking for a creative outlet that involved using my hands and provided a space where I could lose myself and all sense of time.
When my hands first touched the clay on my pottery wheel, I knew that I was starting something exciting. Creating my first mug was mesmerizing. You start with a ball of clay, and it must be centered on the bat before it is ready to be worked on and ultimately pulled and shaped into its new form. This process requires that I too am centered and grounded, that I focus on inhaling and exhaling with every action at the wheel. Then I can become a participant in this dance of creation.
I'd always dreamed of making my own set of functional plates, mugs, and bowls. As I gained experience, I started displaying my many finished pieces in our Earthwise Farm Store, inviting people to take a creation, make a donation, and support my new pottery addiction. Soon, people were making requests, and I happily fulfilled them.
Colorful language has always been my jam! I find great satisfaction in using the word fuck in a sentence when appropriate. One day I met up with a fellow farmer while running errands in town.
We started sharing stories about the trials and tribulations of the agricultural lifestyle and I said,
in reflection, "Sometimes you've just got to say Ahhhhh... Fuck It!" And he quickly replied, "You should put that on a mug!" YES!!! And with that, Profanity Pottery was born.
I have found that I am not alone when it comes to enjoying satisfying catchphrases. When I receive orders for specific wording, I thoroughly enjoy seeing peoples' faces light up when they take home their new treasured mug, plate, or bowl.
A few years ago I invested in my own kiln and a couple of pottery wheels and I moved from the community studio in town to my own private space on the farm. I am slowly but surely making this studio a place where I can create and play on a more frequent basis.
This website is the next step in making sure people can find me and share in the joys of owning a unique piece -- or pieces -- of Profanity Pottery.
